Utah Motorsports Campus Rebrands as West Desert After Local Buyout

The site, formerly known as Utah Motorsports Campus, sits 30 minutes from Salt Lake City and currently features a 4.5-mile road course, a 0.9-mile karting track, and one of the longest front straights in the country at 0.7 miles. Mark Hancock, managing partner at PV3 Enterprises, described the transition as a new lap for the iconic venue, which first opened in 2006 under the Miller family. The investment group plans to expand the facility into a year-round destination by adding residential, commercial, and retail components to the existing racing infrastructure.

General Manager Joe Atkin confirmed that the initial $50 million investment has already funded significant property upgrades, with further capital improvements scheduled for the coming years. Utah Governor Spencer Cox welcomed the return to local ownership, noting the facility's historical importance to the state's recreation landscape. To mark the relaunch, the campus hosts a public celebration on September 19, 2026, featuring free admission, exotic car displays, and track experiences.
