National Medical Fellowships Marks Eight Decades of Physician Mentorship

The anniversary programming, scheduled for early October, moves beyond traditional galas to emphasize direct community engagement. On October 3, the NMF Impact × Rush University Community Health Fair at Charles G. Hammond Elementary School will deploy medical professionals into local neighborhoods. This commitment to active service continues through a collaboration with the CPASS Foundation, where a symposium will feature a screening of the documentary Listen to Me to address critical disparities in Black maternal health.

President and CEO Michellene Davis frames the milestone as an enduring investment in human capital rather than a static anniversary. Beyond financial aid, the organization has evolved to provide clinical research leadership training and career mentorship. As the group gathers at the Four Seasons Chicago for its legacy events, including the President’s Legacy Luncheon and a national summit, the focus remains on sustaining the pathways that have already produced generations of health care leaders across all 50 states.
