Honda Launches $10 Million Endowment to Support HBCU Infrastructure

The Honda USA Foundation is committing $10 million to the newly established Drive the Legacy Fund, a dedicated endowment designed to provide long-term financial stability for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The initiative seeks to bridge persistent capital gaps and modernize campus technology across the institution network.

Honda Launches $10 Million Endowment to Support HBCU Infrastructure

For nearly four decades, the automaker has maintained a presence on HBCU campuses through student-focused programs like the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge. This new fund shifts that focus toward the institutions themselves, targeting core operational deficits such as aging infrastructure and limited digital connectivity. By providing grants ranging from $100,000 to $250,000, the foundation aims to address systemic underfunding that has historically hindered campus modernization.

Marcos Frommer, executive director of the Honda USA Foundation, stated that the investment is intended to bolster institutional capacity and ensure long-term success. The funding process begins in March 2027, prioritizing accredited four-year institutions located in states where the company maintains major operations. Selected colleges will receive support for up to two years to complete projects ranging from cybersecurity upgrades to faculty recruitment and administrative development.
