Since its inception in 2012, this partnership has funneled nearly $275 million into resources for military families. The urgency of the program is underscored by recent data: in fiscal year 2026, 5,600 service members sought assistance from the organization for the first time—the highest annual intake since the group began its work in 2004.
Karen Guenther, founder and CEO of the nonprofit, noted that the partnership provides a reliable safety net that persists long after a veteran’s initial transition to civilian life. Research indicates that consistent, long-term engagement with the organization reduces the likelihood of housing instability, substance abuse, and mental health crises by up to 80%. Bob Parsons, a Vietnam War veteran and co-founder of the foundation, emphasized that the initiative ensures those who served are never left to navigate their recovery in isolation.
