Illinois American Water Acquires Venice Wastewater System

Mayor Phillip White Jr. endorsed the transition, noting that the city’s utility assets are now managed by specialists focused exclusively on water services. This acquisition deepens a 140-year relationship between the utility and the region, as the company prepares to overhaul the aging infrastructure. Rebecca Losli, President of Illinois American Water, confirmed that the company plans to inject $2.6 million in capital improvements into the system over the next five years.

The planned investment strategy targets critical upgrades, including the rehabilitation of wastewater mains and manholes, alongside modernization efforts for lift stations and security controls. Residents will gain access to the company’s digital account management platform, MyWater, and will be eligible for established affordability programs, such as the Income-Based Discount Program and the H2O Help to Others initiative. By consolidating these services, the utility aims to address long-term infrastructure needs across its expanded regional network.
