OneStopSwap Targets Fee-Weary Consumers Amid Rising Economic Squeeze

With 63% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, a new peer-to-peer marketplace is positioning itself as a low-cost alternative to traditional resale platforms. Los Angeles-based OneStopSwap aims to launch in 2027, promising to bypass the double-digit commissions that currently erode value for sellers and buyers in the circular economy.

The platform focuses on an affordability-first model, integrating direct item-for-item exchanges alongside standard cash transactions. By charging a flat fee between $1.99 and $14.99 for swaps and capping cash transaction commissions at 3% for both buyers and sellers, the company seeks to undercut competitors that often take cuts as high as 20%. This strategy addresses the financial constraints reported by many U.S. households, where nearly four in ten adults struggle to cover a $400 emergency expense.

More than 2,000 users have already signed up for the service, with fewer than 3,000 of the initial 5,000 Founding Member slots remaining. These early adopters are slated to receive six months of zero platform fees upon the company's commercial debut. Co-founder Stephen Bikoff emphasized that the goal is to help consumers unlock purchasing power from existing belongings without losing significant equity to platform overhead. The company plans to initiate formal beta testing early in 2027 to refine its infrastructure before the official U.S. rollout.
