Lavender Expands Leadership to Scale Telepsychiatry Operations

As the demand for telepsychiatry grows, the largest nurse-owned practice in the U.S. is restructuring its internal oversight to balance rapid expansion with clinical rigor. Lavender has officially appointed Kara Birch and Anna Lau to lead its clinical excellence and nursing operations, respectively, across its national network.

Lavender Expands Leadership to Scale Telepsychiatry Operations

Birch steps into the role of Director of Clinical Excellence, tasked with shaping the standards and strategy for psychiatric care delivery. Previously at Headway, where she designed quality review systems for thousands of clinicians, Birch also serves as a Full Professor at the UCSF School of Nursing. Her focus lies in integrating quality assurance directly into the organization's operational framework to ensure that clinical outcomes remain consistent as the practice scales.

Anna Lau, who joined Lavender in 2023, assumes the role of Director of Nursing Operations. She manages a growing team of over 140 nurse practitioners, providing the administrative and peer support necessary for clinicians working across diverse state lines. By formalizing these two leadership pillars, Lavender aims to bridge the gap between high-volume access and the personalized, human-centered care that defines its service model. According to co-founder Brighid Gannon, these appointments are essential to protecting patient safety and clinician support as the firm continues to extend its footprint across more than 40 states.
