Urban Remedy Expands Functional Food Line for National Wellness Day

To mark National Food Is Medicine Day on September 14, Richmond-based Urban Remedy is scaling its distribution of plant-forward, organic products across the United States. The company, which operates over 800 retail locations, aims to meet rising consumer demand for convenient, anti-inflammatory nutrition through new functional additions.

Urban Remedy Expands Functional Food Line for National Wellness Day

The brand is introducing the UR Calmer Wellness Shot, a blend of 80 mg of magnesium bisglycinate and 50 mg of L-theanine designed to aid mental clarity and sleep. Alongside this, the Blissful Belly Bowl—a gut-health-focused meal featuring fermented sauerkraut and miso dressing—is rolling out to East Coast markets. The company also announced a national expansion for its Matcha Energy Bar this fall, a Paleo-friendly snack containing 9g of protein.

Founder Neka Pasquale stated that the national rollout responds directly to requests for greater accessibility to their health-focused range. Urban Remedy, a certified B Corporation, emphasizes minimally processed ingredients in its grab-and-go kiosks found in retailers such as Whole Foods Market, Raley’s, and Andronico’s. By integrating these functional products into its existing supply chain, the company continues its mission to position food as a primary tool for daily health management.
