The Marina del Rey-based firm launched the tool to provide empirical context for media cycles. Each metric within Compass links directly to archived, dated articles, allowing users to verify if a topic’s current prominence represents an anomalous surge or a consistent trend. Founder Alan Koenig noted that in August alone, his team processed 47,462 developments across 29,256 articles, finding that only about one in thirteen reports documented a completed result rather than a launch announcement or product tease.
Public access includes "The Overnight," a daily digest flagging unusual spikes and new industry pairings, and the "Signal Record," a monthly analytical publication. While free accounts provide a 30-day window for topic tracking, premium tiers offer expanded relationship mapping, custom alerts, and granular source reports for $59 per month. The service is designed for communications and competitive intelligence professionals who require documented evidence rather than sentiment-based market monitoring.
