The partnership marks a significant escalation in Hyundai’s three-decade history of supporting international football. According to José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, the league offers an ideal platform to showcase the brand’s evolving vehicle lineup to a massive, global audience. The collaboration will leverage the tournament's 36-club format to highlight Hyundai’s strategic pivots toward robotics, artificial intelligence, and smart mobility solutions.
Central to this launch is the IONIQ 3, a compact electric hatchback designed specifically for the European market. As the first of five major models scheduled for release in the 2026/27 season, the vehicle represents the company's focus on efficiency and accessibility. With a drag coefficient of 0.263 Cd and a range reaching 497 kilometers, the IONIQ 3 is positioned to compete directly in Europe’s most contested vehicle segment. Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, noted that the company is entering the partnership with its most robust product offering to date, emphasizing that the IONIQ 3 serves as the primary vehicle for this new chapter. Guy-Laurent Epstein, Co-Managing Director of UC3, stated that the organization welcomes the partnership due to Hyundai’s established history of leveraging sport to foster community connection.
