The partnership leverages NCIF’s established analytical framework, specifically its Development Deposit Intensity and Development Lending Intensity tools. These metrics process public regulatory data to create standardized reports, offering investors a third-party perspective on the tangible community outcomes generated by MDBF’s investments. The initiative aims to provide transparency for the fund’s growing national portfolio, which includes backing from major financial entities like Truist and Microsoft.
Paul Welch, MDBF Portfolio Manager, noted that the collaboration establishes a credible, shared language for tracking progress toward building a more inclusive banking system. For NCIF, the announcement serves as a precursor to their 30th anniversary, which will be marked by an industry conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on September 2-3. Since its inception in 1996, NCIF has deployed over $550 million in capital to support small business development and essential infrastructure, a legacy the organization intends to highlight as it expands its data-driven oversight of mission-oriented banking.
