West Virginia American Water Launches $166,000 Pipeline Upgrade

Crews in Fayetteville will replace 860 feet of aging water main on Lakota Road as part of a $166,000 infrastructure project. The work, which stretches from Beckwith Road to the end of the street, aims to bolster service reliability for local residents through the end of September.

West Virginia American Water Launches $166,000 Pipeline Upgrade

Scott Wyman, president of West Virginia American Water, noted that the initiative remains a core component of a broader $129 million capital investment plan slated for the state throughout 2026. Beyond the immediate technical improvements, these projects serve as economic catalysts; industry data suggests every $1 million in water infrastructure spending generates approximately 10 local jobs.

Work is scheduled for weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with final street restoration expected later this fall. Residents may encounter temporary service disruptions, pressure fluctuations, or discolored water while crews replace the existing lines with new 2-inch PVC mains. The company maintains an interactive map for tracking these statewide upgrades, which have totaled over $805 million in investment and 168 miles of new piping over the last decade.
