Since the launch of the LUNG FORCE initiative 12 years ago, the organization has raised over $32 million, fueling a 140% increase in its research commitment. These funds are vital, as the five-year survival rate for lung cancer has climbed to nearly 30% over the last decade. Harold Wimmer, President and CEO of the American Lung Association, emphasizes that these gatherings serve as both a tribute to survivors and a necessary push to support the 35 million Americans living with chronic lung conditions.
The fall lineup features five major events spanning from Chicago to South Carolina, with participants invited to join as individuals or corporate teams. For those outside these regions, the association offers DIY fundraising options to ensure nationwide participation. With 90 cents of every dollar raised directed toward advocacy and research, the initiative aims to improve early detection and reduce the social stigma surrounding the disease. Registration for all events is currently open at LUNGFORCE.org/Walk, with locations including Chicago, Bridgewater, Cleveland, Charleston, and East Meadow.
