Wix Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over AI Strategy and Financial Disclosures

Investors have until September 22, 2026, to join a securities class action against Wix.com Ltd. following a 27% stock price collapse in mid-May. The lawsuit alleges the company misled shareholders about the financial burden and actual performance of its AI-driven initiatives, Harmony and Base44, which failed to meet internal projections.

Wix Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over AI Strategy and Financial Disclosures

The legal action, filed as Yappi v. Wix.com Ltd., et al. in the Northern District of Illinois, targets losses incurred by investors who purchased securities between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026. Plaintiffs claim Wix overstated the competitive advantages of its AI tools while aggressively understating the associated development and marketing costs. These expenses ultimately caused the company's non-GAAP operating margin to plummet from 21% to 5% year-over-year.

Management’s May 2026 disclosures revealed that the rapid rollout of Harmony and Base44 saddled the firm with a 46% spike in quarterly operating expenses. During the earnings call, executives admitted to significant shortcomings, including missing capabilities in the Harmony platform and a loss of professional developer customers to rival tools. The revelation triggered a market selloff that erased $1.1 billion from the company’s market capitalization in a single day. Hagens Berman, the firm leading the investigation, is now evaluating whether the company intentionally obfuscated the negative financial impact of these AI initiatives to maintain its stock valuation.
