Xtep Debuts 160X 8.0 Ultra with Aerospace-Grade Carbon Fiber

Xtep is bringing aerospace technology to the marathon course with its latest flagship racing shoe, the 160X 8.0 Ultra. Launching globally on August 21, the footwear debuts the GT1200 carbon plate, a high-performance material originally engineered for aviation and deep-space exploration to maximize energy return for elite runners.

Developed in a strategic partnership with Zhongfu Shenying, the GT1200 plate uses 12K carbon fiber filaments. The material offers ten times the strength of steel at a fraction of the weight, bolstered by a protective PI fiber gold coating to ensure durability over long distances. This engineering shift aims to provide professional marathoners with superior rigidity and explosive propulsion, building on a legacy that has seen 160X series runners secure over 620 race titles worldwide.

Beyond the hardware, Xtep is expanding its X-RUN program to bridge the gap between elite performance and recreational running. The initiative provides professional gear, training camps, and sponsorship incentives for personal bests, effectively turning the brand's retail locations into community hubs. According to Alex, Senior Director of Xtep X-Lab, the move represents a decade of research aimed at closing the performance gap with international competitors while fostering a global culture of speed.
