The restoration effort follows 48 hours of intense work across Ohio and Kentucky, where severe weather caused widespread infrastructure damage. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, approximately 38,861 customers remained without electricity, down from the peak of the outages. To accelerate the recovery, the company mobilized additional personnel from Indiana and the Carolinas, though progress was repeatedly slowed by hazardous conditions and recurring lightning that forced crews to pause operations for safety.
Duke Energy storm director Andy Cassidy noted that while the bulk of the system is back online, crews are navigating complex repair sites. Beyond the physical recovery, the Duke Energy Foundation has pledged $100,000 in grants to assist local organizations with food and shelter for those impacted. The company continues to urge residents to remain clear of active work zones and to treat intersections with non-functioning signals as four-way stops until power is fully restored.
