The relief effort is being executed in partnership with the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), an organization specializing in rapid logistics for disaster zones. Peter Unanue, Co-President of Goya Foods, stated that the company’s 90-year history of humanitarian response drives this latest commitment. By leveraging the Goya Gives initiative, the company aims to move beyond simple food distribution toward supporting long-term recovery efforts for those affected.
Michael Capponi, Founder and President of GEM, highlighted the tactical importance of the partnership, noting that the scale of the donation allows his teams to bypass logistical bottlenecks and deliver resources directly to impacted communities. This mission mirrors Goya’s recent relief work in Venezuela, continuing a corporate strategy of mobilizing food stocks during international crises. The supplies are being distributed to families currently transitioning from the immediate emergency phase into the early stages of regional reconstruction.
