IBM and OpenAI Forge Alliance to Scale Enterprise AI Deployment

The collaboration embeds OpenAI’s Codex and ChatGPT Work into the IBM Consulting Advantage platform, creating a specialized pipeline for clients in finance, retail, and government sectors. To support this, IBM is launching a dedicated OpenAI Practice, deploying thousands of consultants and engineers who have secured expert-level certifications through the OpenAI Partner Network. These forward-deployed units will work on-site to convert fragmented legacy systems into streamlined, AI-ready operations.

Beyond process automation, the companies are focusing heavily on risk management. By combining OpenAI’s frontier capabilities with IBM Autonomous Security, the alliance offers a multi-agent service designed to counter increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Andy Baldwin, Global Senior Vice President at IBM Consulting, noted that while corporate investment in AI is surging, the real hurdle remains the secure application of these technologies within existing enterprise architecture. Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI, added that the partnership intends to move AI from an experimental phase to a trusted, core component of business operations.
