Synagro Targets Circular Economy in 40th Anniversary Sustainability Report

The company’s latest report, titled "REIMAGINING the Architecture of Waste," documents a strategic departure from traditional disposal methods. Through internal process upgrades and new partnerships, Synagro successfully transitioned more than 80% of managed residuals into beneficial agricultural use. This environmental impact is equivalent to the carbon sequestration of two million acres of U.S. forests, a landmass exceeding the size of Delaware.

Beyond environmental metrics, the firm reported a 10% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions since 2023. Operational safety also improved, with the company recording a 30% reduction in its total recordable incident rate, a figure that currently outpaces industry averages. CEO Bob Preston noted that these gains reflect a long-term commitment to soil regeneration and water quality, framing sustainability as a driver for both financial health and organizational growth.
