Horizon Petroleum Confirms Well Integrity at Poland's Lachowice 7 Site

The company’s Polish subsidiary, Energia Karpaty Zachodnie, has successfully drilled out cement and mechanical plugs, reaching a depth of 2,706 meters. These initial steps were essential to verify the condition of the well before proceeding with the remainder of the work program. By confirming the integrity of the casing, the team has effectively mitigated a primary risk factor associated with re-entering the site.

Moving forward, the program involves removing existing downhole equipment and re-perforating the 65-meter gross interval of the naturally fractured Upper Devonian carbonate reservoir. Horizon plans to utilize a diverted acid stimulation process to test the well’s performance. Production testing is scheduled to begin in late August, with operations expected to extend into September. Roger McMechan, Chief Operations Officer, noted that the successful testing reinforces the company's belief that the Lachowice accumulation could emerge as a significant domestic natural gas source for Poland.
