VIAVI Launches Vertex 6.0 for 6G and Wi-Fi 7/8 Testing

The platform introduces 400 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and supports carrier frequencies reaching 23.6 GHz. By integrating field-replaceable RF modules into existing 6U chassis, the system allows manufacturers to replicate real-world RF propagation conditions—such as land-to-air transmissions or satellite-based NTN networks—without leaving the laboratory. This capability is critical for validating performance in high-stakes sectors, including aerospace, defense, and cellular infrastructure.

Vertex 6.0 marks the first major integration of technology following VIAVI's acquisition of the channel emulation business from Spirent Communications. The unit is designed to work alongside the company’s TM500 network emulation and TeraVM security validation tools. According to Ian Langley, Senior Vice President at VIAVI, the platform addresses the mounting risks of late-stage development failures by providing high-fidelity environmental modeling earlier in the production cycle. The system supports 36 RF ports and 256 digital links, with specific optimizations for 320 MHz bandwidth and 4096 QAM configurations essential for the latest Wi-Fi standards.
