Mercury Insurance Unveils Hail and Wildfire Discounts for Oklahoma

Oklahoma homeowners facing rising climate risks can now tap into new insurance incentives designed to lower premiums while fortifying properties against severe weather. Mercury Insurance launched an enhanced product line this week, offering significant discounts for impact-resistant roofing and wildfire mitigation efforts across the state.

Mercury Insurance Unveils Hail and Wildfire Discounts for Oklahoma

The new policy structure provides an estimated average savings of $420 for residents who install hail-resistant roofing. Beyond immediate discounts, the program introduces optional coverage that allows homeowners to replace standard roofs with high-grade, impact-resistant shingles following a covered loss. Once verified, these upgrades may qualify policyholders for ongoing premium reductions.

Mercury has also expanded its support for homes built to FORTIFIED standards, which are designed to withstand high winds. Qualifying properties can expect an average premium reduction of $290, or 8.5%. For wildfire-prone areas, the company is offering up to 30% off the wildfire peril portion of premiums for those who implement property-level mitigation, such as home hardening and the creation of defensible space.

Jeff Schroeder, Chief Product Officer at Mercury Insurance, stated that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between property investment and budget protection. By recognizing proactive measures like community-level mitigation and fire-resistive construction, the insurer intends to provide more precise pricing that reflects the individual safety features of a home. The updated coverage options are available immediately through independent agents.
