One thousand personalized pelvic reconstructions later, Parsippany-based Onkos Surgical has hit a major threshold in its push to replace standard orthopaedic hardware with 3D-modeled, patient-specific technology. The company’s My3D platform now serves as a primary tool for surgeons navigating complex bone loss, tumor involvement, and revision histories.

The platform functions by integrating virtual surgical planning with 3D anatomic modeling, allowing engineers to design implants that match the specific topography of a patient's pelvis. This individualized approach aims to address reconstructive goals that off-the-shelf components often fail to meet. According to founder and CEO Patrick Treacy, the milestone reflects a broader shift toward data-driven, anatomy-focused surgical planning.

For surgeons, the shift is increasingly practical. Jeff Barry, an associate professor at UCSF, noted that patient-specific solutions are becoming a standard option for acetabular revision surgery where traditional methods reach their limits. As Onkos continues to refine its design process, the clinical data gathered from these 1,000 cases feeds back into their engineering cycle, potentially shortening delivery times and improving the precision of future interventions. Currently, more than 350 academic medical institutions across the United States utilize the company’s portfolio for complex oncology and orthopaedic cases.
