The legal action, spearheaded by the firm Hagens Berman, questions the transparency of Roblox management concerning the consequences of new safety protocols implemented in November 2025. While company leaders repeatedly emphasized that safety was paramount to their operations, the lawsuit alleges that these claims masked significant friction created by the rollout. Investors began to see the financial fallout on October 30, 2025, when the company announced global age-verification mandates. That disclosure triggered a 16% drop in stock price, erasing $13 billion in market value.
By April 30, 2026, the situation deteriorated further as Roblox reported a sharp deceleration in daily active user growth and slashed its 2026 revenue guidance. The company admitted that only 51% of its global users had completed age checks, citing a subsequent decline in app store ratings and organic sign-ups. Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner leading the investigation, stated the firm is examining exactly when management became aware of these adverse consequences and whether investors were intentionally misled. The deadline for investors to serve as lead plaintiff in this case is August 7, 2026.
