Northwest Biotherapeutics Eyes Saudi Market in SPIMACO Partnership

Northwest Biotherapeutics has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliance Company to bring its DCVax-L personalized immune therapy to the Middle East. The agreement marks a strategic push to introduce the company’s glioblastoma treatment into the Saudi healthcare market.

Northwest Biotherapeutics Eyes Saudi Market in SPIMACO Partnership

The proposed collaboration outlines a revenue-sharing model where SPIMACO acts as the primary commercial partner. Under this arrangement, the Saudi firm would manage regulatory filings with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, while handling local marketing, sales, and distribution. Northwest Biotherapeutics, based in Bethesda, Maryland, will maintain intellectual property ownership and provide the necessary scientific data and product manufacturing.

A central component of the deal involves technology transfer to enable localized manufacturing of DCVax-L within Saudi Arabia. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to establish the nation as a global hub for life sciences and biotechnology. While the initial scope focuses on glioblastoma, both parties have signaled that the partnership could eventually expand to cover additional cancer indications and reach other countries within the Gulf Cooperation Council.
