The expansion builds on a two-decade relationship between the utility and the Indianapolis-based communications provider. By combining Doxim’s existing Customer Communications Management solution with the new payment portal, Central Alabama Water intends to reduce vendor complexity while providing a more consistent digital experience. CEO Jeffrey F. Thompson emphasized that the upgrade focuses on accessibility, ensuring customers can manage accounts and settle bills through their preferred methods.
Beyond digital convenience, the platform integrates pay-by-phone and mobile options into a single, cohesive system. Scott Biel, Chief Revenue Officer at Doxim, noted that the unified billing-to-payment approach is designed to improve collection processes and long-term operational efficiency. This transition allows the utility to move away from fragmented systems, centralizing the customer journey from the initial bill issuance to the final payment confirmation.
