Fiberscope Adds Laser Rangefinder to CYCLOPS TZ Pole Camera

The CYCLOPS TZ is built for the rapid triage of sewer mainlines, culverts, and storm drains ranging from 4 to 80 inches in diameter. By pairing a 1,920-by-1,080 CMOS sensor with 30x optical zoom and integrated laser measurement, technicians can identify critical issues without deploying crawlers into every section of pipe. The camera head, which features motorized vertical movement and high-intensity LED illumination, mounts to a 25-foot carbon-fiber pole to reach deep into access points.

Video data transmits via a Wi-Fi module to a tablet, enabling remote control and immediate documentation. This workflow supports the Environmental Protection Agency’s projected needs for clean-water infrastructure, where efficient assessment of the estimated $630.1 billion required for repairs remains a priority. For field teams, the system provides a clear decision-making path: perform initial visual checks, capture precise distance data, and reserve intensive crawler inspections only for pipes showing confirmed structural concerns.
