OpenText Posts $5.2 Billion in Annual Revenue Amid AI Pivot

Waterloo-based OpenText reported $5.25 billion in total revenue for fiscal 2026, a 1.5% increase year-over-year, as the company leans into its strategy to position its secure data infrastructure as the backbone for enterprise-grade artificial intelligence deployments.

The company’s fourth-quarter results showed total revenues of $1.35 billion, a 2.9% rise compared to the same period last year. Cloud services remained a primary engine for the firm, contributing $503 million in the quarter—marking 22 consecutive quarters of organic cloud growth. CEO Ayman Antoun emphasized that the current fiscal year serves as a "foundation year" for the company, focusing on expanding sales capacity and deepening relationships with ecosystem partners to capitalize on the urgency for trusted AI data.

Financial discipline defined the year, with OpenText reporting an Adjusted EBITDA margin of 36.3%. The company also prioritized shareholder returns, repurchasing $409 million in shares and issuing $268 million in dividends. Looking forward, management signaled a shift toward aggressive cash generation and debt reduction to support long-term performance. Recent strategic moves include a $150 million divestiture of its non-core Vertica business and a €105 million investment in European operations to boost sovereign cloud and agentic AI capabilities.
