Glendale’s Alex Theatre Extends Run of Nolan’s The Odyssey

The success marks a significant milestone for the 1925 landmark, which recently underwent a major technical overhaul to accommodate 70mm film projection. This installation signaled the theatre's return to first-run studio cinema after a 35-year hiatus. Since the engagement began on July 17, the venue has become a focal point for film enthusiasts across Southern California, proving that audiences remain eager for high-fidelity, event-driven cinema experiences.

Artistic Director Miles Williams attributed the turnout to a collective appreciation for the shared theatrical experience. The theatre, known for its Art Deco spire and Greek-inspired architecture, is positioning itself as a hub for both cinematic history and modern large-format technology. By combining its heritage with current 65mm 15-perf IMAX film capabilities, the Alex aims to solidify its status as a destination for major studio releases.
