National Kidney Foundation Receives Top-Tier Accreditation

The National Kidney Foundation has secured Joint Accreditation with Commendation, the highest honor in healthcare continuing education. This six-year designation recognizes the organization's efforts to integrate patient-centered perspectives and evidence-based research into the training provided to clinicians treating kidney disease across the United States.

National Kidney Foundation Receives Top-Tier Accreditation

The accreditation, which remains in effect through July 2032, highlights the foundation's shift toward interprofessional education. Rather than relying solely on clinical data, the program incorporates lived experience from patients as planners and instructors. This model aims to address broader social determinants of health alongside traditional practice standards, ensuring that healthcare teams are equipped for the complexities of primary care, dialysis, and transplantation.

Marc Hurlbert, CEO of the National Kidney Foundation, noted that the recognition validates the organization's role in a rapidly evolving medical landscape. By utilizing health data to refine educational content, the foundation intends to close the gap in care for the 1 in 7 American adults currently living with chronic kidney disease. Jessica Joseph, Senior Vice President of Scientific Operations, emphasized that the goal is to move beyond knowledge sharing toward measurable improvements in patient-centered outcomes. All continuing education activities are currently managed through the foundation’s Professional Education Resource Center.
