BV Investment Partners Backs Workforce Compliance Firm Thomas & Company

Private equity firm BV Investment Partners has acquired a stake in Nashville-based Thomas & Company, a move designed to accelerate the growth of the workforce compliance specialist. The partnership aims to scale the firm’s proprietary technology platform and expand its footprint across the competitive U.S. human resources ecosystem.

BV Investment Partners Backs Workforce Compliance Firm Thomas & Company

Founded in 1994, Thomas & Company provides large-scale employers with automated solutions for unemployment cost management, tax exposure, and wage verification. The company currently employs over 200 professionals and manages mission-critical compliance workflows through a proprietary database. By integrating BV’s capital and sector-specific experience, the leadership team plans to broaden its service suite and pursue potential acquisitions within the compliance space.

Nate Kenney, CEO of Thomas & Company, noted that the investment serves as a catalyst for deepening service capabilities and simplifying increasingly complex employment-related processes for their clients. Jason Kustka, a partner at BV, highlighted the firm's focus on backing platforms that deliver measurable ROI, citing Thomas & Company’s established service model as a key driver for the deal. Legal counsel for the transaction included Ropes & Gray LLP for BV, while McDermott Will & Emery and Houlihan Lokey advised Thomas & Company.
