Bestway Pool Settlement Offers $15 Million to Owners

Owners of Bestway above-ground pools measuring 48 inches or taller may be eligible for compensation following a class action lawsuit in Illinois. The litigation centers on an alleged safety defect involving compression straps on specific models sold between 2008 and 2024, prompting a $15 million proposed settlement fund.

Bestway Pool Settlement Offers $15 Million to Owners

The settlement covers Bestway-branded pools, including Power Steel and Steel Pro models, purchased for personal use from commercial retailers. While the agreement provides monetary awards for eligible claimants, it does not constitute an admission of liability by Bestway USA, Bestway Inflatables, or Bestway Hong Kong. The deal remains separate from the July 2025 recall, which continues to operate independently.

To receive payment, owners must submit a valid claim form online or by mail no later than October 30, 2026. Participants may choose between electronic payments or a physical check. Those who submit a claim forfeit the right to sue the defendants over the specific issues resolved by this case. Individuals who prefer to retain their right to pursue separate litigation must formally exclude themselves by the October deadline. The court is scheduled to review the fairness of the agreement during a final approval hearing on November 20, 2026, in Chicago.
