Huntington is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the region’s economic activity by leveraging Absher’s deep local roots. Prior to this appointment, he held senior roles including Market President and Chief Lending Officer, managing commercial teams within highly competitive environments. Regional President Peyton Jones noted that the bank is intentionally recruiting leadership with specific local insight to match its nearly $300 billion in assets with a relationship-driven service model.
Absher’s mandate includes scaling Huntington’s presence by connecting local businesses with the resources of a major national institution. He plans to integrate his community involvement—which includes board work with United Way for Greater Austin and Big Brothers Big Sisters—into the bank's operational strategy. This leadership change arrives as Huntington continues to prioritize Texas as a primary growth market, focusing on targeted talent acquisition and long-term expansion across the state’s most dynamic metropolitan areas.
