Chronic hepatitis B remains a significant global health challenge, affecting approximately 254 million people according to recent WHO data. While existing antivirals suppress viral replication, they often fail to achieve a functional cure. AHB-171 aims to address this gap by providing potent, sustained suppression of viral gene expression.

CEO Dr. Guofeng Cheng noted that the trial validates the company’s ability to translate proprietary platform technologies into clinical assets. CSO Dr. Chris Yang added that the candidate is designed to integrate into combination treatment strategies. The company, which operates in the United States and China, plans to use the trial data to assess the clinical profile of the drug while evaluating the broader efficacy of its Au-HALO delivery technology.
