Nabsys and Indiana University Partner on Electronic Genome Mapping

Structural variation analysis in blood cancers remains a technical hurdle, prompting a new multi-year collaboration between Nabsys and the Indiana University School of Medicine. The partnership aims to integrate the OhmX platform into research workflows for acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes to improve high-resolution genomic diagnostics.

Nabsys and Indiana University Partner on Electronic Genome Mapping

Dr. Kevin T.A. Booth, clinical laboratory director at the Indiana University Genetic Testing Laboratories, will lead the evaluation of Nabsys’ electronic genome mapping (EGM) technology. The project seeks to determine how EGM can complement traditional cytogenetic methods like fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and conventional karyotyping. While existing tools often provide limited genomic coverage or low resolution, the OhmX platform utilizes proprietary electronic detection to analyze ultra-long DNA molecules, offering a more compact and cost-effective alternative for structural variant and copy number analysis.

Barrett Bready, founder and CEO of Nabsys, noted that the initiative builds on the company's efforts to standardize single-molecule insights across academic laboratories. The collaboration is expected to provide deeper data on complex abnormalities inherent in hematologic malignancies. Following this announcement, Nabsys plans to showcase recent progress in EGM applications at the Cancer Genomics Consortium Annual Meeting in Houston, taking place August 1–5, 2026. The findings presented there will highlight the platform’s capacity to deliver integrated, genome-wide insights for research applications.
