The new service functions as an optional upgrade for eligible applicants, specifically targeting those navigating the final stages of the admissions cycle. Despite the compressed timeline, the institute maintains that the assessment rigor remains unchanged. Every speaking component continues to be evaluated by human examiners to ensure the same academic standards expected by over 300 global institutions, including Russell Group universities.
Michael Shaw, Head of Digital Assessment and Product Strategy at OIDI, noted that the service addresses a critical pain point for students during peak admissions periods. By providing a faster route to certification, the institute aims to balance the need for rapid results with the necessity of a detailed, human-led evaluation of English proficiency. The initiative reflects a broader shift in digital assessment, where providers are increasingly tailoring delivery models to match the tight, high-stakes deadlines of international higher education.
