Kingsoft Office Targets Omani Academic Market with Arabic-First Software

For students at Oman’s University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the primary hurdle in digital productivity has long been the chaotic formatting that occurs when mixing Arabic and English. A recent delegation to Kingsoft Office’s headquarters in Zhuhai signaled a deepening push to solve these technical frictions through localized AI tools.

Kingsoft Office Targets Omani Academic Market with Arabic-First Software

The visit on July 28 marked a turning point for the relationship between the Chinese software developer and the Omani institution. While global productivity suites often struggle with right-to-left text alignment and document margins, students like Nasser Almandhari noted that WPS Office successfully integrates these features without forcing users to abandon their workflow. Almandhari highlighted the software’s translation and real-time collaboration capabilities as critical improvements over standard, non-localized AI alternatives.

Beyond immediate software adoption, the meeting focused on long-term institutional integration. Dr. Nihad Abdullah Mohammed Al-Zadjali, assistant vice chancellor at UTAS, discussed plans for co-developing Arabic-language software versions and launching AI-focused internships. These initiatives aim to align Kingsoft’s technology with the specific requirements of Omani classrooms. The strategy appears to be gaining regional momentum; Hussain Alhammadi, the UAE ambassador to China, has identified the company’s AI ecosystem as a viable model for local government and educational infrastructure. As WPS Office expands its footprint across 220 countries, the Zhuhai collaboration underscores a shift toward highly tailored, language-specific AI solutions in the Middle East.
