Springfield’s Iconic 31-Story Former Wyndham Hotel Heads to Auction

Spanning 374,200 square feet, the structure remains one of the largest hospitality assets in Central Illinois. Built in 1972, the building includes 369 guestrooms, 27 apartments, and an expansive 50,000-square-foot facility for conventions and events. The site also features a restaurant, fitness center, indoor pool, and a structured parking garage. Beyond the hotel operations, a rooftop communications lease provides a secondary revenue stream of over $12,000 per month.

Jamie Coté, senior director at Hilco Global, noted that the site’s scale and location near the Illinois State Capitol and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library make it a unique prospect for investors. The bankruptcy sale is being managed under the oversight of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, Case No. 5:26-bk-50689. Interested parties must submit their bids by 5:00 p.m. CT on September 15 via the Hilco Real Estate sales portal.
