CPSC Warns of Millions of Defective Products Linked to Multiple Deaths

The most significant recall involves 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers. The devices have been tied to 1,480 reports of overheating, 15 fires, and 350 injuries, including the death of an 83-year-old consumer in San Diego this past February. Similarly, Galanz Americas is recalling over 121,000 retro-style refrigerators following 34 reports of fire, one of which resulted in a fatality.

Parents are advised to check their homes for several dangerous nursery products. OCTROT is recalling 178,000 heated blankets due to fire risks, while multiple firms—including Woodure, HARPPA, and Mangohood Direct—have pulled thousands of toddler kitchen towers from the market due to severe entrapment and fall hazards. Additionally, CetoPMax has expanded its recall of baby loungers citing suffocation risks, and TOYHW is recalling over 1,000 baby doll playsets that violate federal small-parts bans.

Other notable recalls include 404,000 Joyin dive sticks, 60,720 Trsmima zipline kits, and thousands of dressers from Enhomee-Direct and KAIFAM that fail to meet stability standards. The commission emphasizes that federal law strictly prohibits the sale of any product subject to these recalls. Consumers are urged to verify their home inventory against the full list at cpsc.gov and immediately cease use of any affected items.
