The company’s latest sustainability report, titled The Power to Transform, outlines a roadmap for the next seven years. Central to this environmental shift is a commitment to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.8%, paired with a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions. Beyond carbon footprints, Southwire is redesigning its plastic packaging to ensure at least 30% of the material consists of post-consumer recycled content.
Burt Fealing, the company’s executive vice president and chief sustainability officer, framed the transition as a balance between honoring the firm’s industrial legacy and addressing future demands. The strategy extends into internal operations as well, with plans to reach the top 5% of industry benchmarks for both employee net promoter scores and inclusion-related engagement. The organization also intends to double its financial support for nonprofits, reinforcing its commitment to the regions where its 9,000 global employees operate.
