Citizens Financial Services Reports Strong Profit Growth for Mid-2026

The Mansfield-based institution saw its net interest income climb to $51.8 million for the six months ending June 30, driven by higher investment returns and reduced interest expenses. Quarterly performance was equally robust, with net income reaching $10.2 million for the second quarter, up $1.7 million compared to the prior year. This growth occurred despite a challenging environment that prompted the bank to increase its specific reserves for non-performing loans.

Management cited the economic impact of the conflict with Iran—specifically its effect on diesel and fertilizer prices—as a contributing factor to the firm’s credit loss provisions. Non-performing assets rose to $43.4 million, largely tied to select commercial and construction real estate relationships that entered non-accrual status. Despite these pressures, the bank’s return on average equity reached 11.84% for the six-month period. Demonstrating confidence in its capital position, the board declared a cash dividend of $0.51 per share, reflecting a 4% increase from the previous year.
