Dow Profits Surge on Pricing Gains and Self-Help Initiatives

Dow reported a significant financial turnaround for the second quarter of 2026, posting $12.1 billion in net sales—a 20% increase from the previous year. The company’s pivot toward higher product pricing and aggressive cost-cutting measures helped reverse a year-ago loss, resulting in $802 million in GAAP net income.

Dow Profits Surge on Pricing Gains and Self-Help Initiatives

The company’s performance was bolstered by a 20% rise in local pricing, particularly within the Packaging & Specialty Plastics segment, where higher polyethylene costs drove revenue despite a slight 1% dip in overall sales volume. While planned maintenance activity temporarily slowed output, the firm’s 'Transform to Outperform' initiative played a pivotal role in boosting operating EBIT to $1.6 billion, a $1.7 billion improvement over the same period in 2025.

CEO Karen S. Carter credited the results to disciplined execution and a supportive market environment. The company now expects to extract over $1.3 billion in total annual benefits from its self-help programs, an upward revision of $200 million. Despite geopolitical headwinds impacting volumes in the Middle East and parts of Asia, Dow maintained momentum through increased demand in industrial applications and downstream silicones. Looking ahead, the firm remains focused on innovation and balanced capital allocation to ensure long-term value for its shareholders.
