GMAC Shuffles Board Leadership to Navigate Changing Education Landscape

Vishal Gaur of Cornell University, Shelly Heinrich of SMU Cox, and Clare Norton of Columbia Business School join the nonprofit’s governance team during a period of transition. Alongside these additions, Jay Nibbe, a former EY partner, steps into the role of co-chair, serving alongside current chair Catherine Duggan of the University of Cape Town. These leadership changes follow the departures of four veteran board members, including Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou and Ian Fenwick.

GMAC is currently recalibrating its operational focus to address rising concerns over education affordability and recruitment flexibility. Recent initiatives include a partnership with Ascent Funding to streamline student financing and the introduction of GMAT Superscore, a tool allowing applicants to highlight their best section performance across multiple test attempts. CEO Joy Jones noted that these appointments are intended to provide the necessary oversight as the organization attempts to modernize its support for both business schools and prospective students worldwide.
