UAE Boosts Oil Output to Record 4.1 Million Barrels Per Day

Defying the blockaded Strait of Hormuz, the United Arab Emirates ramped up crude production to a historic 4.1 million barrels per day in June. This output, surging from 3.3 million in May, marks a strategic pivot for the nation following its formal withdrawal from OPEC earlier this spring.

UAE Boosts Oil Output to Record 4.1 Million Barrels Per Day

The record-breaking figures represent a near doubling of production compared to the 2.1 million barrels per day recorded in March 2026, when the Hormuz crisis first disrupted global energy flows. By operating tankers in "dark mode" and shifting loading points to offshore Fujairah and Sohar in Oman, the UAE has successfully bypassed traditional maritime bottlenecks. This output eclipses the previous 4 million barrel record set during the 2020 price war.

To cement this logistical independence, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is accelerating the West-East 1 Pipeline project. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the pipeline will double export capacity through Fujairah. ADNOC has also earmarked $55 billion for upstream and downstream expansion over the next two years, signaling an aggressive transition toward autonomous market dominance outside the OPEC framework.
