The project is the result of a $2 million commitment from UNIQLO and its parent company, Fast Retailing, pledged in January 2025 to aid Los Angeles wildfire recovery. By placing the hub at the parish school, organizers selected a location central to the burn area, providing a stable environment for families to access homework help, financial literacy training, and digital skills workshops. This expansion brings Street Soccer USA’s footprint to three hubs in Los Angeles, joining existing sites in Watts and South Gate.
For UNIQLO USA CEO Adachi Fuminori, the goal is to provide a sense of normalcy and renewed opportunity for a neighborhood navigating the long-term effects of disaster. Lawrence Cann, founder of Street Soccer USA, noted that the partnership, which dates back to 2013, has evolved from apparel sponsorship into a deep investment in local resilience. The site also represents a milestone for the organization’s "26 for 2026" campaign, which seeks to establish 26 similar centers nationwide. Beyond the soccer pitch, the broader relief initiative has included reforestation efforts with the National Forest Foundation and partnerships with local museums to provide free access for affected families.
