US Trade Commission Bans Innoscience Products Over Patent Violations

The U.S. International Trade Commission has finalized a ban on Innoscience’s gallium nitride products following a confirmed patent infringement ruling. The decision, which survived the mandatory Presidential Review Period, marks a significant legal victory for Infineon Technologies in its ongoing global campaign to protect its power semiconductor intellectual property.

US Trade Commission Bans Innoscience Products Over Patent Violations

The ITC determination effectively blocks the import and sale of Innoscience devices found to violate Infineon’s proprietary GaN technology. Johannes Schoiswohl, head of Infineon’s GaN Systems division, stated that the ruling validates the company’s extensive patent portfolio and ensures competitive fairness. Infineon currently holds approximately 450 GaN-related patent families and maintains a dominant position in the market for high-performance power systems used in AI data centers, electric vehicles, and renewable energy infrastructure.

This U.S. outcome aligns with a series of recent judicial setbacks for Innoscience in Europe. Since August 2025, the Munich District Court has issued multiple rulings confirming that Innoscience infringed upon three patents and one utility model. These German judgments not only prohibit the marketing and distribution of the contested products but also mandate that Innoscience pay damages to Infineon. As a major integrated device manufacturer, Infineon continues to leverage its manufacturing capabilities, including 300-millimeter GaN production, to reinforce its technical lead against competitors navigating these ongoing legal disputes.
