The film, titled America 250: Caregiving Together, captures the daily realities of families supported by the nonprofit’s Florida and Southwest Florida affiliates. By partnering with the storytelling agency Acumen, Easterseals aims to illuminate the invisible labor of those who manage complex healthcare systems, finances, and transportation while balancing their own professional lives. The project emphasizes that without adequate respite and community resources, the physical and mental toll on these caregivers threatens the stability of the very individuals they support.
Kendra Davenport, President and CEO of Easterseals, noted that caregivers often carry profound responsibilities in isolation. The organization argues that expanding access to services is not merely a social service, but a necessity for ensuring that seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities maintain independence. With caregiving needs growing rapidly, the film serves as a call to integrate professional support systems into the fabric of American community life, moving away from the assumption that families can navigate these evolving health challenges entirely on their own.
