Nvidia Faces Class Action Over Alleged California Labor Code Violations

A new class action lawsuit filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court alleges that Nvidia Corporation systematically denied employees mandatory meal and rest periods. The complaint, brought by Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, further accuses the tech giant of failing to reimburse staff for mandatory work-related mobile phone usage.

The lawsuit, identified as Case No. 26CV494054, claims Nvidia employees were frequently required to work through their designated thirty-minute off-duty meal breaks. According to the filing, the company allegedly manipulated time-keeping records by rounding meal period durations, effectively depriving workers of legal rest time and associated compensation. The complaint also highlights instances where staff worked shifts exceeding five or ten hours without receiving the legally required first or second meal breaks.

Beyond labor scheduling issues, the litigation addresses unreimbursed business expenses. The plaintiff asserts that Nvidia required employees to utilize personal cellular devices to complete job duties without providing mandatory indemnification under California Labor Code § 2802. The firm representing the plaintiffs is currently soliciting additional information from workers impacted by these alleged practices.
