Conexon Connect reaches 240,000 Georgia locations with fiber rollout

A rural infrastructure initiative has hit a significant milestone in Georgia, as Conexon Connect completed its ninth state-wide project. The partnership with Satilla REMC now spans 5,200 miles of fiber, providing high-speed internet access to nearly 60,000 locations and pushing the company's total regional footprint past the 240,000-mark.

The project serves members across nine rural counties, including Appling, Bacon, and Ware. Despite facing physical setbacks during Hurricane Helene in 2024, the five-year build concluded in June 2026. This infrastructure now guarantees 100 percent coverage for Satilla REMC members, filling a void left by commercial providers who previously bypassed these remote territories.

Beyond basic connectivity, the network utilizes multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds and supports smart grid technology to bolster the electrical infrastructure of local cooperatives. Romeo Reyes, President and CEO of Satilla REMC, noted that the initiative was born out of necessity when it became clear that traditional service providers would not extend facilities into these rural communities. Following this success, Conexon Connect is currently managing over 20 projects across seven states, aiming to reach approximately 500,000 rural homes and businesses.
