At Impulse Space, Mitchell managed the evolution of in-space transportation systems, navigating complex projects from conceptual Mars mission architectures to final application. He now brings this operational background to Balerion, where he will help identify and finance early-stage companies. General Partner Phil Scully noted that Mitchell’s expertise is vital for the firm’s expansion, as the fund seeks to deepen its capacity for evaluating frontier technologies.
Balerion currently holds a portfolio that includes SpaceX, Anduril Industries, and Valar Atomics. With the addition of Mitchell, the firm aims to leverage his hands-on experience to refine its approach to the space economy and national security sectors. The team, which has worked together for nearly five years, continues to focus on companies capable of defining new categories in deep technology and aerospace engineering.
